Brief Company Overview:

Ayoba-Yo is a consumer-packaged-goods company who specializes in South African recipe beef snacks called Biltong & Droewors. These beef snacks are dried with air, instead of with heat like jerky. The result is a tender beef snack with no sugar and more protein than the average beef jerky. Ayoba-Yo is growing rapidly and we are expecting explosive growth over the next few years. Head of Marketing

Brief Job Overview:

As the Head of Marketing you will be responsible for digital communications, the planning and creation of content, and managing on and off-screen interactions with existing and prospective Ayoba-Yo customers and consumers. This will be done by leading internal and external initiatives in PR, Social Media, Customer Service and Events - being the first touch point of customer interaction, press development and management, developing best in class organic content across all social channels, producing visual marketing assets as needed (e.g. POS, trade show booths, apparel) and planning/executing events. You will also be responsible for building out and managing a brand ambassador program and will serve as the point of contact for these contract team members.

Main Goals:

Foster a lasting and engaged relationship with the end customer.

Build a brand voice/tone that effectively communicates the brand’s core values.

Work directly with CEO to achieve goals

Based in Northern Virginia/Washington D.C.

Your Responsibilities:

The responsibilities of the role are outlined below, the tasks are broken down by an anticipated amount of time that will be spent on each task.

 > Social Media / PR (40%)

Translate marketing objectives into content strategies for social media to grow follower count and increase engagement.

Lead the creative process from concept to completion in the production of marketing content.

Monitor Social Media channels and interact with customers daily.

Interact with other brands and media outlets to create cross-promotion/giveaways to foster social media growth.

Work with PR and media partners to lead press campaigns that tie to marketing strategies.

Review work, troubleshoot and provide feedback to management.

 > Community Management / Brand Ambassador Program (40%)

Build out and manage the Brand Ambassador program that consists of sub-contracted team members across multiple regions. These team members will perform in-store demos and field activations.

Manage and grow a list of Influencers and establish an Affiliate Marketing Program.

 > Customer Service (10%)

Act as the first point in customer and consumer service.

Answer daily customer service emails and route to appropriate department.

Ensure customer communication is consistent and meets brand values.

 > Event Management (10%)

Research, Plan & Execute events and tradeshows, primarily East Coast.

Qualifications/Requirements:

BA strongly preferred but not required

2-3 years of Marketing experience, 1 year in Consumer Package Goods or Food & Beverage preferred

Prior project management experience

Experience leading a creative campaign

Social media communication and management experience; digital marketing experience a plus

In-bound marketing and/or publishing experience

Strong Foundational and Functional skills - critical thinking; communication, influence and impact skills

Entrepreneurial spirit; experience in past entrepreneurial venture beneficial

Ability to work in ambiguous and dynamic work environment; is comfortable with risk and uncertainty

Willing to take occasional trips (mostly over weekends) to execute on events

Partial work-from-home schedule can be discussed
